Poetry Slam

  • Todd County Public LIbrary 507 South Main Street, Elkton, KY Elkton, KY, 42220 United States (map)

Join us for an inspiring evening of creativity, community, and poetic expression at the first-ever Green River Academy Poetry Slam, hosted in partnership with the Todd County Public Library. This free event celebrates National Poetry Month—a global literary tradition recognizing the profound impact of poetry in our lives.

Open to high school students and adults, the Poetry Slam invites participants to perform either an original work or a favorite poem that has left a lasting impression. Whether you’re a seasoned writer, a first-time performer, or simply a lover of the spoken word, you’ll find a welcoming space to share and celebrate the art of poetry.

This event was made possible by the dedication of Nancy Dye and Carolyn Wells, two beloved former English educators from Todd County Central High School, whose passion for literature continues to inspire generations of students. Their vision for the event is to create a platform for past students, local writers, and poetry enthusiasts to gather and honor the power of language.
